History
Season 2002-2003
Storm is the latest team to arrive at Basingstoke Synchro Teams. Their
name is Storm! The teams first ever competition was held on the 18th November
2002 at the National Ice Centre, Nottingham. After skating two clean programmes,
the team finished 2nd. Their final competition of the season, was the
2003 British Championships, skating clean again to finish 2nd!
Season 2003-2004
The new season started in style with the team winning the first British
Qualifer, this medal was followed with Gold at the British Championships
2004. The team was offered the chance to compete at an ISU international,
the French Cup, Rouen. The team skated well to achieve 12th place. Back
from France, the team went into training for the World Championships in
Croatia. Once at the World Championships, the team skated well, although
they had falls in the short and long programme. The team finished a very
creditable 21st of 23 teams. Storm learnt many new skill and enjoyed the
whole experience.
Season 2004-2005
Storm have started their new season with ballet lessons from Lisa Beaumont
and a training camp at the National Ice Centre, Nottingham, coached by
Cathy Dalton. They have also won both British Qualifers and the British
Championships 2005. Next on the competition schedule was the Spring Cup
2005 in Milan. The team skated well to achieve a 6th place finish. The
last competition of the season was the first Nottingham Cup 2005, held
in Great Britain. The team had fun skating in front of their own country
to achieve a 4th place finish.
Season 2005-2006
As a new season starts so does the training, starting with an ISU training
in Budapest, Hungary from 25th June - 3rd July 2005. The team had dance,
gym and of course synchro with Kaisa Nieminen, the coach of the Rockettes.
At the first British qualifer 2005, Storm won. After early morning practises,
the team competed in the Nottingham Cup 2006, coming 7th out of 8 teams
competing. This event was also the British Championships, which Storm
won for the third year in a row. The team has just came back from the
French Cup in Rouen, after skating a very good short programme, the team
finished in 9th place of the 13 teams competing. The team achieved the
highest place for a British team in several years and gained their place
in the second warm-up group! The long programme was skated well, unfortunely
the team had a few mistakes which meant that they finished 11th overall.
This was a real learning curve for the team and they have become more
confident. World Championships has been the highlight of the team's year!
Firstly the fact that they qualifed to attend the competition and the
whole experience of competiting in front of a huge audience. The team
didn't skate the best they could coming 18th in the short programme and
sadly dropping to 20th overall in the free skate, but they learnt lots!
Season 2006-2007
The team competed at the British Championships in Deeside, with
the team winning their fourth British title. The team also achieved a
personal best at the competition and qualifed for the World Championships
in Canada. Over the Christmas period, the team performed in no less than
4 exhibition all round the UK, including a show for the National Lottery.
